Holiday Special!
The holidays are upon us, but GGW never rests. To celebrate the season and the first year(ish) of the podcast, we did a *special video episode* which you can watch below! (There’s also a good ol’ audio version, don’t worry!) We reflect on past issues and convos, including what we’ve learned and what surprised us. For the first time ever, we also answer listener questions! Plus! Results of the t-shirt drive for Planned Parenthood (thank you so, so much). And! Behind-the-scenes with Kurt Wagner’s (unofficial) PR Manager—which words about Mr. Wagner ended up on the cutting room floor? Watch/listen to find out!
Thanks for a great first 10 months of convos amid a world not infrequently on fire—here’s to the next 85 issues!

-GGW Team
I am way behind but just listened to this episode and spent way too much time thinking about replacing the core characters. This is what I came up with:
Iron Man for Captain Britain. They both have self-confidence issues and at various times are functional alcoholics. They both are not great boyfriends but even at their worst you know they are heroes.
Spider-Man for Kitty Pryde. To be specific, high school age Peter Parker. You keep the young POV character. I also think it would be interesting for young Spidey to be on a team. It was 40 years before he joined the Avengers. I see him realizing it would be good to have a mentor. He will at first think it is Captain Britain but gradually will realize Nightcrawler is the better one to learn from. He also has the necessary trauma for this team.
Jessica Jones for Rachel. You lose the Kitty Pryde relationship. I’m not sure if Jones was ever queer coded, but the age difference would make it problematic. However, you could get more of a Kitty/Wolverine dynamic but with an older Kitty and a more cynical Logan. Also a character suffering from trauma. I also think it would be fun just because she is such a “bad” fit for the team. I can see her thinking “wtf with the alien, dinosaur, Nazi, manga, fantasy, and superhero crap?” Then when Dai Thomas makes some snarky remark about superheroes he gets surprised when she 100% agrees with him.
Thing for Nightcrawler. Another OG Marvel trauma victim and “monster.” You need a new “heart” for the team and the Thing fits that role. Imagine that Megan scene in Excalibur #4 only instead of turning blue and furry, she turns orange and rocky.
She-Hulk for Megan. Somewhere between the John Byrne and Tom DeFalco versions. She-Hulk would be a great fit for the team. I immediately see her and Kurt as a couple and a jealous Brian who is thinking “I’m the big beefcake, punchy guy. She should be with me!”
Omg, these are some truly exciting possibilities, I love it. The Kurt/Meggan dynamic if Kurt had the Thing’s body is *fascinating.* The Sharon Ventura She-Thing storyline was never quite that, and has been handled… let’s say “unevenly” over the years. This version sounds better!!
